Fastnet Rock Stars at Classic

29th April 2008

Former champion sprinter Fastnet Rock has cut a swathe through the first season sires division at all the major yearling sales this year in Australia and came up trumps again at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with both the top priced colt and filly.

Fastnet Rock topped the sale with Lot 514, his colt from the imported Risen Star mare Star of Alexis that made $190,000 for Widden Stud when knocked down to Dr Stanley Ho for $190,000.

He also hit the heights with Lot 520, a glorious filly offered for sale by Brooklyn Lodge that made $160,000 to the bid of New Zealand bloodstock agent Paul Moroney.

A beautifully bred filly, she is the second foal of Stocktake, a Peintre Celebre mare from former champion two year-old Burst.

Fastnet Rock was the leading sire by average at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with four youngsters averaging $96,250 against an overall sale average of $32,023.
