Lion Heart Exacta at Keeneland for His First Winner
26th April 2008
A pair of two-year-old Lion Heart fillies posted a 1-2 finish in their debuts in a maiden special weight at Keeneland on Friday, giving freshman sire Lion Heart his first winner. Pride (Lion Heart -- Coffee Springs, by Crafty Prospector), owned by Michael Tabor, Mrs. John Magnier and Derrick Smith and bred by Drumkenny Farm, H & W Thoroughbreds, and Adrian Regan, stalked the lead until the top of the stretch and pressed on to win the 4 1/2-furlong test by a length and a quarter. Meanwhile, Cameron Crazies (Lion Heart -- D Hail Mary, by Defensive Play) took the corner wide but finished willingly to round out the Lion Heart exacta. Cameron Crazies is owned by Bobby Hurley's Devil Eleven Stables and bred by Majestic Farms. Lion Heart follows in the footsteps of Ashford sire Chapel Royal, who also had his first winner at Keeneland last week.
