First Stakes Success for Danedina

26th April 2008

Talented three year-old filly Danedina (3f Danehill DAncer x Aradina, by Monde Bleu) broke through for her first Black Type success at Cheltenham on Saturday when saluting in the Listed SAJC Laelia Stakes over 1450 metres.

The Mark Kavanagh trained filly had been stakes-placed twice previously and did a good job to score a tenacious short half head win over Rough Chance (3f Rock of Gibraltar x Ruffles, by Zeditave) to give Coolmore sires the quinella.

Bought by part-owner Robin Stutley at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Adelaide for $48,000, Danedina has won two races and placed four times from 10 starts earning $114,710 in prizemoney.

Bred and offered for sale by Kanowna Stud, Danedina is the second foal of the Monde Bleu mare Aradina, a half-sister to stakes-winners Aptego and Amarina.

Danedina is the fifth Australian stakes-winner this season for Danehill Dancer, joining Group One winners Light Fantastic, Arapaho Miss as well as Shrewd Rhythm and Stripper.
