Four More Million Plus Yearlings for Encosta

22nd April 2008

Encosta de Lago ended the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale with 46 youngsters averaging $583,696 following the sale of four more babies for sums in excess of one million dollars on Tuesday.

Top seller for Encosta de Lago during the final session of the sale was Lot 373, a stylish grey colt from Skates that made $1.7 million for Coolmore Stud when knocked down to the bid of Ingham Bloodstock.

A half-brother to this season’s Group One winner Juste Momente, he was one of a dozen Encosta de Lago yearlings purchased by Ingham Bloodstock with whom the son of Fairy King is a clear favourite.

Ingham Bloodstock also bought Coolmore Stud’s filly from champion mare Special Harmony for $1.5 million and a colt from the Tyreel Stud draft from dual Group One winner Republic Lass for $1.2 million.

Also cracking the million-dollar barrier for Encosta de Lago on Tuesday was an eye-catching chestnut colt from the Hennessy mare Ylang Ylang offered by Amarina Farm that made $1.2 million when secured by Macau based casino magnate Stanley Ho.

Encosta de Lago had nine yearlings in all fetch $1million or more, his top seller for the entire sale remaining Yarraman Park’s full brother to champion filly Alinghi who made $2.2 million on Monday when bought by Anthony Cummings.
