Chapel Royal's First Starter Second

17th April 2008

Two-year-old filly Terrifany (Fusiachi Pegasus - Pesci, by Stormy Atlantic) laid down an impressive performance in her debut at Keeneland yesterday, winning a maiden special weight by 1 1/2 lengths over Iberian Gate (Chapel Royal - White Cliffs, by Dover Ridge). Owned and bred by Joe Pesci, Mark Giardino and trainer Wesley Ward, Teriffany was out of the gate and flying immediately, covering early fractions of 21.80 and 44.50 in the 4 1/2-furlong contest. Well clear at the half, Terrifany held off Iberian Gate, Chapel Royal's first starter, for the win. Iberian Gate, owned by Let's Go Stable and bred by Moreau Bloodstock International, gamely hung on for second.
