General Consensus Breaks Maiden at Santa Anita

General Consensus (Giant's Causeway -- Shootforthestars, by Seattle Slew) continued improving in 2008 by capturing a 1-mile maiden special weight contest on the turf at Santa Anita Sunday. Bred by Swettenham Stud and owned by Edmond and Sharon Hudon, the 3-year-old filly was steadied twice, but patiently waited for running room into the stretch. She got it midstretch, and responded by splitting rivals and drawing away to win by 1 3/4 lengths.
