Double Maiden Winners for Fusaichi Pegasus

Fusaichi Pegasus produced maiden winners on each coast in the U.S. Saturday when Fuencia (Fusaichi Pegasus -- Ciencia, by El Gran Senor) and Power Blitz (Fusaichi Pegasus -- Sunday Wish, by Sadler's Wells) came home victorious. Fuencia won at Gulfstream Park at second asking in convincing fashion, taking the lead at the half-mile mark and pulling away to capture a six-furlong outing by 6 1/4 lengths. Power Blitz also took to the task second time out at Santa Anita, swinging to the outside in the stretch to win a 1 1/16 mile test by 1 3/4 lengths. Fuencia, bred by Russell S. Fisher and John F. Nappy, is owned by My Purple Haze Stables, while Power Blitz was bred by Fusao Sekiguchi and is owned by Henry E. Pabst.
