Fastnet Rock rules the first season sires at MM

Former champion sprinter Fastnet Rock dominated his freshman rivals for buyer’s attention at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale with 32 yearlings averaging $237,891.

His best results were headed by a terrific colt from stakes-winner Citirecruit that was offered by Reavill Farm as Lot 608 and fetched $600,000 to the bid of leading Gold Coast trainer Alan Bailey.

Glastonbury Farm also scored a big hit with their filly from Yvonne that made $525,000 when snapped up by BBA Ireland. Catalogued as Lot 451, she is the first foal of Yvonne, a Group Three winner by outstanding broodmare sire Last Tycoon from the family of Group One winners Lord Reims, Lotteria, Taatletail and company.

Strawberry Hill Stud got into the Fastnet Rock act with their colt from C’yaontheotherside that made $505,000 as Lot 643 secured by Dean Watt’s Dynamic Syndications.

Also winning fans on the last day of the sale for Widden Stud was Lot 774, the first foal, a filly, from Group Three winner Golden Delicious that made $500,000 with Pacific Heritage Farms the winning bidder.

Fastnet Rock has stood for a fee of $55,000 in each of his three seasons to date covering 208, 194 and 256 mares in each year and he is sure to be a star attraction at the upcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale with some 50 youngsters catalogued for sale..
