$2.2 Million for Coolmore Pinhook
27th March 2008
A bold gamble by Tom Magnier of Coolmore to purchase the three-quarter brother to champion two year-old Dance Hero at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale last year paid big dividends at the Gold Coast on Thursday when the colt was knocked down to Patinack Farm for $2.2 million setting a new record price for the Magic Millions Yearling Sale. The Redoute’s Choice colt from Gypsy Dancer was purchased for $1,150,000 last June with connections reaping a profit of more than a $1million on the transaction.
Also secured by Coolmore at the MM National Sale last year was Gypsy Dancer herself for $1.5 million and the star matron has since produced another colt by Redoute’s Choice, but unfortunately missed when covered by Encosta de Lago last spring.
"It's a great result," Tom Magnier commented after the sale.
"Deep down I was hoping for $2 million - but at a sale you never know. This is the first colt we've pin-hooked and it's been a great success."
