Fastnet Rock Fires Up

26th March 2008

The progeny of first season sire Fastnet Rock were in keen demand during the third session of the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Wednesday with some big results driving his average to $244,886 with 22 youngsters being sold so far.

His star performer on Wednesday was a terrific colt (pictured at Reavill Farm) from stakes-winner Citirecruit that was offered by Reavill Farm as Lot 608 and fetched $600,000 to the bid of leading Gold Coast trainer Alan Bailey.

Glastonbury Farm also scored a big hit with their filly from Yvonne that made $525,000 when snapped up by BBA Ireland. Catalogued as Lot 451, she is the first foal of Yvonne, a Group Three winner by outstanding broodmare sire Last Tycoon from the family of Group One winners Lord Reims, Lotteria, Taatletail and company.

Also finding favour for Kulani Park was Lot 574, a superb bay filly, first foal of stakes-placed Canny Princess, that made $475,000 with James Bester the successful bidder.

After three sessions Fastnet Rock is a clear leader among his freshman peers and is fourth on the overall sires list by average.
