Encosta Cracks $6Million in Prizemoney

There was a changing of the guard on the weekend with leading sire Encosta de Lago overtaking Zabeel to claim the top spot on the Australian General Sires List by earnings.

With 10 stakes-winners this season and 87 individual winners the progeny of Encosta de Lago have amassed prizemoney of $6.1 million, more than $1million clear of Zabeel on $5million.

Encosta de Lago covered 192 mares in Australia last spring at a fee of $220,000 and his yearlings will be a major attraction at upcoming sales such as Magic Millions on the Gold Coast starting on March 24 and the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale starting on April 20.
