Gamble Me Back in Winners List

8th March 2008

Talented and tenacious is three year-old filly Gamble Me (3f Rock of Gibraltar x Good Gamble, by Pleasant Tap), who posted her fifth win when victorious over the colts and geldings in the Listed VRC Moomba Plate over 1100 metres at Flemington on Saturday.

Lugging 58 kg, the Lee Freedman trained filly knuckled down to her task in fine style outgunning smart gelding Pins on Parade to win by a length with Tan Tat de Lago (3f Encosta de Lago x Tan Tat Star, by Umatilla) ) in third place.

Bred and retained to race by Gooree Stud, Gamble Me was a two-time stakes-winner last spring and has picked up exactly where she left off, her overall record now standing at five wins and four placings from 13 starts with earnings of $354,170.

Gamble Me is a half-sister to Sydney metropolitan winner Cara Y Cruz (USA), being from the imported Pleasant Tap mare Good Gamble, whose dam Looking for Gold is a full sister to champion sire Seeking the Gold.

A somewhat tricky breeder, Good Gamble has produced only one other foal since having Gamble Me, a two year-old full brother to her called Obama that has been sent to Gai Waterhouse.

Gamble Me is one of 27 stakes-winners worldwide for Rock of Gibraltar whose oldest progeny in the Northern Hemisphere are now four year-olds and Southern Hemisphere progeny three year-olds.

Rock of Gibraltar has some outstanding yearlings for the Australian sales in 2008 with 35 for Magic Millions and 36 for Inglis Easter.
