Winners Flow for Choisir

5th March 2008

Former champion sprinter Choisir has had a winning run in Australia in recent weeks and added a new metropolitan winner to his tally at Sandown on Wednesday when the Peter Moody trained filly Sienna Star (3f Choisir x Lady Chivero, by Clay Hero) won the Ratings 72 event over 1000 metres.

A winner at Tatura when resuming from a spell, Sienna Star seems a stronger filly this preparation and can doubtless improve on her record to date of two wins and a placing from six starts.

Raced by the Rockmount Syndicate, Sienna Star was a $160,000 purchase from the draft of Bellerive Stud at the 2006 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne.

Sienna Star is the fifth foal of stakes-placed Lady Chivero, a half-sister by Clay Hero to dual Group One winner Count Chivas, a high class stayer whose wins included the AJC Sydney Cup and SAJC Derby.

With 22 individual winners this season Choisir is not far off the division leader Rock of Gibraltar, who has had 24 Australian winners since August 1.
