Hong Kong Feature to Son of Royal Academy

The feature event at Sha Tin on Saturday was the Centenary Vase HK Gr 3 over 1800 metres with victory going to the American bred Royal Academy horse Bullish Luck (9g Royal Academy - Wild Vintage, by Alysheba).

The Tony Cruz trained nine year-old swept home with a determined bid to sail straight past his rivals in posting a three length win over last year’s Hong Kong Derby winner Vital King and Viva Macau.

An evergreen performer who was HK Horse of the Year in 2006 following a string of major wins including the Group One Yasuda Kinen in Japan, Bullish Luck continues to race well for connections his overall record an impressive 11 wins from 48 starts with earnings in excess of $HK61 million ($A8.8 million).

Bullish Luck is from the Alysheba mare Wild Vintage, a half-sister to French Group One winner Juvenia.

Bullish Luck is one of an amazing 147 stakes-winners world wide for Coolmore based sire Royal Academy who has flown his last shuttle and is now permanently based at Coolmore Australia at Jerry’s Plains.

The sire in Australia this season of Group One winning three year-old filly Serious Speed, Royal Academy has big representation at the upcoming Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne where he has 23 youngsters on show to be followed by 19 at the Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast.
