Buyers Flock to F Rock

Champion sprinter Fastnet Rock ended the 2008 NZB Premier Yearling Sale in New Zealand as the leading first season sire by average and also finished second on the overall sires averages list in a stunning sale ring debut.

Fastnet Rock had 12 yearlings offered and all were sold bar one that passed in, his 11 youngsters sold averaging $385,455 some seven times his 2005 service fee of $55,000.

Fastnet Rock had two yearlings feature in the Top 10, a filly from Galapagos Girl that made $700,000 for Trelawney Stud as Lot 137 when knocked down to BBA Ireland and a colt from Affirmed’s Lane that made the same amount for Pencarrow Stud as Lot 471 when secured by David Ellis.

Fastnet Rock will undoubtedly be a major force at the Australian sales this year and it’s no surprise that he was the busiest stallion in New South Wales last spring covering 256 mares, again at a value fee of $55,000.
