$800,000 Filly for Rock of Gibraltar

28th January 2008

Rock of Gibraltar starred on day one of the 2008 NZB Premier Yearling Sale when his blue-blooded filly from Marquise fetched $800,000 to be the second highest priced filly of the session.

Bred and offered for sale by Cambridge Stud as Lot 246, the half-sister to ill-fated Group One winner Shower of Roses was knocked down to Mr and Mrs B Lindsay of Auckland.

Rock of Gibraltar was the fourth leading sire by average on day one, his seven yearlings averaging $295,714 with other good results posted by his colt from Equuleus that made $550,000 to the bid of David Ellis and a filly from Lovely Actress that was purchased by in-form Sydney trainer David Payne for $250,000.
