Ready to Rock

29th December 2007

Leading Randwick trainer David Payne produced his second juvenile winner of the season in Sydney at Rosehill on Saturday when talented filly Rock Me Baby (2f Rock of Gibraltar - Highest Cool, by Highest Honor) made a winning debut over 1100 metres.

A powerful chestnut with a muscular physique, Rock Me Baby had shown ability in two recent barrier trials and was heavily supported by punters.

After beginning well, she took a sit off the leader Miss Monashee and gave punters no cause for concern when she found a few more gears on straightening to dash clear and score over the unlucky Encosta de Lago filly Love and Kisses.

“She’s a very laid back filly and this run will really bring her along, said David Payne.

“We’ve always liked her and she’s a half-sister to a very good filly Kevin Moses had in Frazzle Dazzle.”

Bred and offered for sale by Kia Ora Stud, Rock Me Baby (pictured as a yearling) was purchased by David Payne for $260,000 at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and races for the Neasham Hayes Syndicate.

She is the fourth foal of the imported stakes-placed Highest Honor mare Highest Cool, who comes from the family of international Group One winners It’s In The Air, Storming Home and Musical Chimes.

Highest Cool has a yearling full brother to Rock Me Baby and produced a filly by Galileo this spring.

Rock Me Baby is the 15th Australian winner for Rock of Gibraltar this season making him the leading second season sire in Australia by individual winners.
