Rock of Gibraltar Colt Tops NZB Ready to Run

21st November 2007

Rock of Gibraltar featured in New Zealand on Wednesday when his two year-old colt from Run and Hide made $500,000 to top the 2007 NZB Ready to Run Sale at Karaka.

Offered by Lyndhurst Farm, the athletic bay colt was bought by Rob McAnulty for a partnership of investors.

McAnulty was glowing in his admiration for the colt.

"He's a striking individual. If he was by Danehill or Redoute's Choice we would be paying $2 million for him,” he said.

The star colt set a new record price for this sale and provided an outstanding result for pinhookers Mark and Shelly Treweek who secured the Australian bred colt through bloodstock agent Mike Moroney at the Magic Millions Sale in January for $50,000.

Offered as Lot 292, he is the third foal of the Ogygian mare Run and Hide, a half-sister to three American stakes-winners from the family of Group One winners Kela and Air Shakur.
