Recast (7g Thunder Gulch - Abonnement, by Marauding) scored the biggest win of his career at Kranji on Sunday after storming home to claim the Singapore Gold Cup Sng Gr 1 for the Laurie Laxon stable .Ridden Opie Bosson, he charged to the line to win by a length and a quarter having finished a close fourth at his previous start to Lim’s Objective in the Raffles and Resort Cup Sng Gr 1.
“He travelled well throughout for me,” Bosson commented.
“He didn’t pull in the early stages, he was keen and even though the pace wasn’t too strong, he didn’t pull.I got up inside of Kim Invader and settled behind the leaders. I just had to wait for a split and when it came he just went whoosh!”
Recast has won seven of 30 starts in Hong Kong after being sold privately out of the Lloyd Williams stable in Melbourne as a three year-old.
An $80,000 purchase from Magic Millions in 2002, Recast won two of three starts as a juvenile when trained by Brad Marzato for Williams, scoring at Sale and in town at Sandown prior to his sale to Singapore.
