Group 2 glory for Montjeu mare

An excellent year for Montjeu continued in Paris on Sunday when George Strawbridge’s home-bred Montare (5m Montjeu-Contare, by Shirley Heights) landed the G2 Prix du Conseil du Paris at Longchamp.

Trainer Jonathan Pease now has an international campaign in mind for the game mare, who won last season’s G1 Prix Royal-Oak.

"We will probably run her again, but next week’s G1 Prix Royal-Oak might come too soon for her. There are possibilities in the Far East, such as the G1 Japan Cup [Nov. 25] and the G1 Hong Kong Vase, so we will see in time," said Pease.
