Galileo’s second champion juvenile

A son of the great Galileo is set to be crowned Europe’s champion two-year-old for a second consecutive season after New Approach (2c Galileo-Park Express, by Ahonoora) defeated a top-class field to win the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. To view the race click here.
Jim Bolger’s charge, who was bred by Seamus Burns’ Lodge Park Stud has followed an identical path to last season’s champion Teofilo (2c Galileo-Speirbhean, by Danehill) with a run of five successes that also include the G1 National Stakes and G2 Futurity Stakes.
After Saturday’s win, the Racing Post’s headline read "NEW SENSATION - Bolger Colt Crowned Undisputed Champion After Digging Deep In A Classic Dewhurst".
Kevin Manning’s mount only hit the front in the final furlong but ran on to beat the Danehill Dancer colt Fast Company (2c Danehill Dancer-Sheezalady, by Zafonic), who was bred in partnership by Limetree Stud and another bright prospect for next year.
"He was asleep for most of the way but we will be well capable of waking him up for the Guineas," said Bolger of New Approach. "And we now know how to settle him so we have the complete formula for him. He should be well capable of staying the mile and a half. This fellow is a machine."
Trainer Brian Meehan said of Fast Company: "He looks a serious 2000 Guineas contender for next year and it has been a pleasure to have him."
