Montjeu colt make half a million at Tattersalls
10th October 2007
The first day at book one of Tattersalls’ October Yearling Sale was set alight on Tuesday by a son of the mighty Montjeu out of Millennium Dash (by Nashwan) who made 500,000 guineas.
John Magnier bought the colt, consigned from the Weinfeld family’s Meon Valley Stud, after prevailing in a protracted duel with trainer Marcus Tregoning.
The full-brother to Yorkshire Oaks second Dash To The Top is a grandson G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Milligram, who is a daughter of the G1 1000 Guineas heroine One In A Million.
"He’s been sold by one of the best farms, it’s a very well-run outfit and they have bred a lot of good horses. The sister was very good and we’re full of hope," said Magnier.
On another good day for Coolmore sires, agent John Warren bought a Lavington Stud home-bred Galileo colt for 450,000 guineas on behalf of Sir Robert Ogden while John Magnier spent 380,000 guineas on another son of Galileo.
