Holy Roman Emperor to Cover in Australia

27th September 2007

An important addition to the revised Australian Coolmore roster for this spring is dual Group One winning juvenile Holy Roman Emperor, who will be transferred from Eastern Creek to Coolmore headquarters at Jerry’s Plains today.

“We’ve been listening to our clients and they are very keen to support this horse, so we’ve taken the decision to keep him in Australia rather than going straight back to Ireland,” said James Harron of Coolmore.

“There is huge demand for quality stallions and as a Group One winning son of Danehill from the family of Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago, Holy Roman Emperor has rock solid commercial appeal.”

Holy Roman Emperor won the Group One Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh and Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Grand Criterium at Longchamp, retiring with the overall record of four wins and two seconds from seven starts.

One of four stakes-winners produced by celebrated broodmare L’On Vite, Holy Roman Emperor‘s three-quarter brother by Rock of Gibraltar topped the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when secured by Gai Waterhouse for $3 million.

“We are taking bookings to him now and breeders planning on sending mares should remember that they must enter the purple zone before the 19th of October which is the cut off date for horses entering this region,” added Harron.

Holy Roman Emperor will stand at a fee of $44,000, so to book a mare call Coolmore today on 02 6576 4200.
