55th Stakes-Winner for Danehill Dancer
14th September 2007
Danehill Dancer has been churning out stakes-winners at a dizzying rate this year in Europe and added another in England on Thursday when three year-old filly Medley (3f Danehill DAncer - Marl, by Lycius) took out the Listed Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster.Owned and bred by The Queen, the Richard Hannon trained Medley showed plenty of courage to score a head win in the seven furlong contest, her first success in Black Type company.
A consistent filly, Medley has won three races and placed five times from 10 starts and is likely to cross the Atlantic in search of further success.
“She loves fast ground and the firmer the better. She’ll probably go to America now to race and be covered, then come back home,” said Richard Hannon.
Medley becomes the 55th stakes-winner worldwide for Danehill Dancer and is from the Lycius mare Marl, making her bred on a similar cross to Danehill Dancer’s recent American Group One winner Alexander Tango.
That filly is from a daughter of the Mr Prospector sire Woodman, while Medley is from a mare by Mr Prospector’s son Lycius.
Danehill Dancer would have covered a full book in Australia this year at a fee of $110,000, but unfortunately is among the Coolmore stallions stranded in the Eastern Creek quarantine facility.
