Peintre colt Hearthstead claims G3 glory

9th September 2007

The Mark Johnston-trained Hearthstead Maison (3c Peintre Celebre-Pieds de Plume, by Seattle Slew) looked to appreciate a drop back in trip to 10 furlongs to land his first Group success in the G3 Kilternan Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Peintre Celebre colt, bred by T Nakata, stayed on well to score by a length and a half under British champion jockey Ryan Moore.

"He did it very well and is a typical Johnston horse, real tough," said Moore. "When I grabbed hold of him he picked up real well on that decent ground and he enjoyed himself out there He's a nice horse and did it very well in the finish."
