Septimus captures Lonsdale Cup

Septimus (4c Sadler's Wells-Caladira, by Darshaan) captured the G2 Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup over an extended two miles at York on Tuesday.

Jockey Johnny Murtagh always looked to be in pole position as he tracked the leaders before he hit the front over a furlong out and went on to a length victory.

Septimus loved the trip. He had never run this far before, but he always looked like he was going to get further. He travelled sweetly all the way and it was his first run back after a break."
