Encosta de Lago Filly for Elegant Fashion
23rd August 2007
She was the darling of the Hong Kong racing scene in 2003 when David Hayes trained her to win the Group One Hong Kong Derby, but life is a good deal easier and more pleasurable these days for Elegant Fashion as she roams the paddocks at Brooklyn Lodge near Aberdeen in the Hunter Valley.Raced throughout her career by Dr Gene Tsoi, Elegant Fashion was retired to stud in in 2005 at the end of a glittering career that included eight wins in Australia and Hong Kong netting a whopping $6.6 million in prizemoney.
The daughter of Danewin produced a filly by Zabeel in her first year at stud and was sent to Encosta de Lago at Coolmore last spring with this glorious chestnut filly the result of that mating.
Foaled at 10 am on Monday morning, she has more than a passing resemblance to her famous mum.
“She’s an outstanding foal and I’m sure Dr Tsoi will be delighted with her,” said Brooklyn Farm Stud Manager, Mike Fleming.
