Third G1 for son of Montjeu

22nd August 2007

The great Montjeu enjoyed another G1 victory at York on Tuesday when Authorized (3c Montjeu-Funsie, by Saumarez) scooped the third top-level victory of his career when winning the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes.

Authorized, who was bred by a partnership including Mick Kinane, scored by a length from Dylan Thomas (4c Danehill-Lagrion, by Diesis) in the hands of Frankie Dettori to add to his previous G1 victories in the Derby and Racing Post Trophy.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam said: "I was saying to Frankie let him go because I could see Dylan Thomas making ground and he's a hard horse to crack. There was never a moment when I thought he wouldn't win. But I was wanting Frankie to let him go. He was giving him a pull and he's a galloper. He's a great horse. It's easy (to train horses) when they are that good."

Joint-owner Saleh Al Homaizi is now looking forward to the rest of the season and a trip to France with Authorized, who could bid to emulate his brilliant sire’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe success.

"Peter was so thrilled that the horse had come back to his best as he was in the Derby. After today I think he is the best around and I hope we continue that in the Arc. He's a great horse - now it's on to Paris," said Al Homaizi.
