More Group race glory for Montjeu colt Papal Bull
19th August 2007
He already boasted successes in the G2 King Edward VII Stakes, G2 Princess Of Wales’ Stakes and G3 Chester Vase and the Montjeu colt Papal Bull (4c Montjeu-Mialuna by Zafonic) added another big-race win to his CV when taking the G3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Sir Michael Stoute’s charge, bred by B H and C F D Simpson, was a hugely impressive four-length winner under champion jockey Ryan Moore.
"He has so much class and could develop into a Cup horse," said Moore. "He had the talent to compete with the best over a mile and a half, but there aren’t that many races over that trip after the King George. However, this victory opens up so many more options"
