Half-Sister to Zizou Arrives at Valley’s End
3rd August 2007
There was much excitement for Hunter Valley breeder David Bentata this week when his prize broodmare Natural is My Name delivered a filly foal by Rock of Gibraltar at Valley’s End Stud in Scone.A half-sister to last season’s outstanding juvenile colt Zizou (3c Fusaichi Pegasus - Natural is My Name, by Naturalism) (pictured) , the leggy chestnut filly is the fifth foal of the stakes-placed Naturalism mare Natural is My Name, whose grand-dam is celebrated producer Easy Date, the dam of champion sprinter and top class sire Snippets.
It’s a family that has soared to new heights this season with Golden Slipper winner Forensics and Group One winner Rewaaya both tasting considerable success at the highest level along with Zizou, who finished second in both the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond.
Zizou was sold by David Bentata as a yearling at the 2006 Magic Millions, the son of Fusaichi Pegasus prepared for sale by Megan Kelso and sold under her Kelso Bloodstock as agent banner.
Secured by Demi O’Byrne for $450,000, Zizou runs in the Coolmore colours and has won some $949,250 to date under the guidance of David Hayes, who has entered the colt for the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate.
“He’s really come back well and has matured and developed into a great style of colt,” said James Harron of Coolmore Stud.
“His dam Natural is My Name has also been booked back to visit Fusaichi Pegasus again this year.”
An un-named two year-old filly by Danehill Dancer from Natural is My Name has been retained by Mr Bentata and will be prepared by Anthony Cummings, while there is also a yearling full sister to Zizou at Valley’s End.
