Valuable Stakes Success for Lisson Grove
28th July 2007
Royally bred Dehere filly Lisson Grove (2f Dehere - London Lights, by Dehere) posted a valuable stakes success when taking out the Listed SAJC Dermody Stakes over 1000 metres at Cheltenham on Saturday.Having her first run after a break of seven weeks, Lisson Grove was ridden beautifully by Craig Williams from barrier one and surged to the line to beat Diplomatic Force (Oamaru Force) and Zupaone (Flying Spur) by a length.
The David Hayes trained two year-old filly has now won two of three starts earning $56,100, her lone defeat coming on debut when she reared badly as the gates opened and failed to finish.
Raced by Mr and Mrs Tim Hughes, Lisson Grove was purchased on the advice of astute bloodstock agent James Bester for $350,000 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
She is a half-sister to Group One AJC Flight Stakes winner Only a Lady being from the Bletchingly mare London Lights, a daughter of Group One QTC Oaks winner Travel Light (NZ).
Dehere has been a regular visitor to Australia for many years and is the sire of 57 stakes-winners worldwide including Aussie Group One winners such as Defier, Belle du Jour and Bollinger.
He is scheduled to return this year to Coolmore Australia at a fee of $55,000.
