Four Out of Five for Tan Tat De Lago
28th July 2007
The Peter Moody trained filly Tan Tat De Lago (2f Encosta de Lago - Tan Tat Star, by Umatilla) has been one of the finds of the winter racing scene in Melbourne reeling off four successive wins including an easy victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday.Ridden by apprentice jockey Kate Dyson, Tan Tat De Lago skipped clear at the top of the straight and held her rivals at bay to win the 1600 metre open event for juveniles by a length and a half.
Tan Tat De Lago has won four of five starts this preparation earning $77,900, her lone defeat coming on debut when blocked for a run at Sale on May 26.
"She's been up too long to worry about the Spring", said Peter Moody.
"We were probably a little bit greedy coming along today but she'll have a nice long break now. I think she's a filly good enough to set for a nice race in the Autumn so she'll have the best part of 10 weeks off and we'll have another go then."
Retained to race by her breeders, Tan Tat De Lago is the first foal of the Umatilla mare Tan Tat Star, a metropolitan winning full sister to Group One winner Umrum.
She is one of ten Australian juvenile winners this season for Encosta de Lago, whose two year-old stars include Group One winner Apercu, Group Two winner Press the Button and stakes-winner Cecconi.
Encosta de Lago will return to Coolmore Australia this spring after spending his first Northern Hemisphere season in Ireland, his fee set at $220,000.
