Giant's Causeway Scores Double in G2 Virginia Derby and G3 Modesty

Giant's Causeway posted an impressive double victory Saturday as Red Giant and Bridge Game captured the G2 Virginia Derby and G3 Modesty Handicap, respectively. Red Giant (Giant's Causeway -- Baba Light, by Majestic Light) got things started at Colonial Downs with a thrilling upset victory by a nose in the $1,000,000 Virginia Derby. Getting a stalking trip throughout, Red Giant was determined in the drive and was up to win the 1 1/4 mile test. He set a course record of 1:59.62 in the process. Later, at Arlington Park, Bridge Game (Giant's Causeway -- Beyond the Sun, by Kingmambo) raced in the middle of the pack, angled out, and rallied in the stretch to take the 1 3/16-mile Modesty by a length and a half.
