Galileo colt will bid to emulate Teofilo
16th July 2007
A new star could have been unveiled at the Curragh on Sunday evening when the concluding seven-furlong maiden was won in tremendous style by the Jim Bolger-trained Galileo colt New Approach (2c Galileo-Park Express by Ahonoora).
Bolger has won the race for the past two years with Galileo colts. In 2005 Heliostatic (4c Galileo-Affianced by Erins Isle) was successful before going on to two black-type victories while 12 months ago the great Teofilo (2c Galileo-Speirbhean by Danehill) scored before going on to be crowned champion two-year-old after four further juvenile successes, including the G1 Dewhurst Stakes and G1 National Stakes.
"He’ll go more or less the same route as Teofilo now," said Bolger of New Approach, a 430,000 euros yearling bred by Seamus Burns’ Lodge Park Stud out of the brilliant racemare Park Express.
