Well Bred Fillies Make Winning Debut

6th July 2007

A very heavy track at Bendigo on Friday did little to hinder the progress of two beautifully bred juvenile fillies, that both made a winning debut before the meeting was later abandoned.

The Peter Moody trained Sacha Royale (2f Fasliyev - Dora Maar, by Royal Academy) settled off the pace before finishing doggedly to score by a length in the 1000 metre maiden for juvenile fillies.

In doing so, she became the 13th individual Australian two year-old winner sired by Fasliyev, whose last crop of Australian foals sold as yearlings earlier this year.

Bred by Mrs Catherine Remond and offered for sale by Willow Park Stud at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Sacha Royale was secured for $260,000 and is raced by the Rockmount Syndicate.

Sacha  Royale (pictured as a yearling) was the most expensive yearling filly by Fasliyev sold in Australasia 2006.

She is the third foal of the unraced Royal Academy mare Dora Maar, a half-sister to Group One winners Fairy King Prawn and Easy Rocking, being from the grand producer Twiglet.

Dora Maar has now had three foals to the races and all have won, her other winners being Hong Kong based Super Snippets and $1.1 million colt Art House, a metropolitan winner of three races in Melbourne.

In the very next race it was the turn of Our Parfumee (2f Royal Academy - Cherry Garden, by Sir Tristram) , who dived late to grab a nose win in her division of the 1000 metre maiden for juvenile fillies.

Prepared by David Hayes, Our Parfumee is a full sister to stakes-winner Liberty Rose being by Royal Academy from the Sir Tristram mare Cherry Garden, who died in 2004 leaving Our Parfumee as her last foal.

Bred and offered for sale by Collingrove Stud (now Swettenham), Our Parfumee was purchased by Manx Park for $130,000 at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Our Parfumee is one of eight Australian juvenile winners this season for evergreen shuttle sire Royal Academy who will return to Coolmore this spring at a fee of $27,500.
