French 1-2 G3 for Rock

A few minutes before his son Eagle Mountain (3c Rock Of Gibraltar-Masskana by Darshaan) finished third in the G1 Irish Derby, Rock Of Gibraltar had a 1-2 in the G3 Prix Chloe at Maisons-Laffitte.

Sheikh Mohammed’s home-bred Utrecht (3f Rock Of Gibraltar-Maria Isabella by Kris), trained by Andre Fabre, enjoyed a cosy victory from the Niarchos fanily-bred Maria Gabriella (3f Rock Of Gibraltar-Celestial Lagoon by Sunday Silence). Winning jockey Stephane Pasquier commented: "The filly was full of running at the end."

Utrecht’s dam Maria Isabella, who was twice Listed-placed, is a half-sister to the Classic winners Bosra Sham, Hector Protector and Shanghai.
