Galileo Juvenile Wins at Kenilworth

Talented two year-old colt Alvaro (2c Galileo - Gun Lady, by Thatching) opened his account when winning the juvenile maiden over 1200 metres at Kenilworth in South Africa on Saturday.The Justin Snaith trained youngster settled off the pace and then took the lead 300 metres from home, holding on to win by half a length.
Purchased by James Bester Bloodstock for $80,000 from the draft of Coolmore Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, Alvaro is the twelfth and final foal of the Thatching mare Gun Lady.
Alvaro is a half-brother to stakes-winner Huntingdale High and two stakes-placed performers in Conscription and Bang Goes Lang.
Australian bred juveniles have been racing up a storm in South Africa this season with a host of winners led by Group One victor Seventh Rock (Rock of Gibraltar) in company with Uber Rock (Rock of Gibraltar), Lady Bonzer (Choisir), Jozi’s Jewel (Johannesburg), Da Vinci’s Legacy (Peintre Celebre), Hill of Fire (Danehill Dancer) and Street Cat (Tale of the Cat), etc.
