27th June 2007
The Royal Academy mare Aiko (7m Royal Academy - Asian Incline, by Slant) shared top price honours at the Inglis Great Southern Sale in Victoria on Wednesday when she was knocked down to North Road Bloodstock for $240,000.Offered by Phoenix Broodmare Farm as agent, Aiko is a half-sister to recent South African Group Two winner Super Profit being out of the former star West Australian mare Asian Incline, a Listed winner of 16 races and $353,270 and Group One placed when second to Primacy in the 1994 VATC C.F. Orr Stakes.
A more than handy producer, Asian Incline was covered by Danehill Dancer last spring after missing the year before and her yearling filly by Galileo made $100,000 at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when knocked down to World Wide Bloodstock.
A good metropolitan winner herself, Aiko was offered with a positive test to champion sprinter and leading first season sire Choisir in her first season at stud.
