Nightime Retired and In Foal to Holy Roman Emperor

25th June 2007

Top class racemare Nightime (4m Galileo – Caumshinaun, by Indian Ridge), winner of the Group One Irish 1,000 Guineas last year, has been officially retired by trainer Dermot Weld and is in foal to Holy Roman Emperor.

Best remembered for her six-length win in the Irish fillies classic, Nightime failed at her next start in the Group One Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot when injured and after not measuring up in her lone appearance this year has been retired.

Bred and owned by Dermot Weld’s mother Gita, Nightime was sent to dual Group One winning juvenile Holy Roman Emperor in his first season at stud this year and is safely in foal.

The resulting offspring will be bred on the successful Galileo / Danehill cross in reverse, a nick that has already produced last season’s star European juvenile Teofilo and the stakes-winning Australian filly Banc de Fortune.
