South African Group Two Winner for Spinning World

23rd June 2007

The Group Two Post Merchants Stakes run over 1200 metres at Greyville in South Africa on Friday was won by Australian bred three year-old Super Profit (3c Spinning World - Asian Incline, by Slant), who defeated another Aussie in Arabesque Dancer.

The talented son of Spinning World made it six wins from 15 starts in overcoming a bad barrier to get the better of the Danehill Dancer horse Arabesque Dancer (3c Danehill Dancer - Swirled, by Vain) by a neck.

Placed in Group Two company three starts back, Super Profit is prepared by Dominic Zaki who purchased him for $120,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud.

Super Profit (pictured as a yearling) is the fourth foal and first stakes-winner for former star West Australian mare Asian Incline, a Listed winner of 16 races and $353,270 and Group One placed when second to Primacy in the 1994 VATC C.F. Orr Stakes.

Covered by Danehill Dancer last spring after missing the year before, Asian Incline had a yearling filly by Galileo make $100,000 at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when knocked down to World Wide Bloodstock.

Super Profit becomes the 33rd stakes-winner worldwide for Nureyev’s Group One winning son Spinning World who has been based permanently at Coolmore in Australia since 2005 and will stand this spring at a fee of $8,800.

Despite below par fertility restricting his numbers, Spinning World is still capable of getting top class horses and had a Group One quinella in Australia this season when Lyrical Bid defeated Kosi Bay in the Group One VRC Myer Classic last spring at Flemington.

The Charles Laird trained Arabesque Dancer ran a bold race at his first attempt at stakes company and looks a progressive type with five wins from 11 starts.

A $230,000 purchase from the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, secured from the draft of Eureka Thoroughbreds, Arabesque Dancer is by Danehill Dancer from Swirled.

He is the sixth foal and first Black Type performer for Swirled, a daughter of Group Two winner Twirled, by champion sire Vain from the family of Group winners Legally Bay, Time Out, Classy Fella, Vestey, etc.
