American Group Three Winner for Danehill Dancer

18th June 2007

Very few progeny of leading sire Danehill Dancer find their way to America, but he did feature at Churchill Downs on Saturday when his three year-old daughter Good Mood (3f Danehill Dancer - Pillars of Society, by Caerleon) registered her first Black Type success in winning the Group Three Regret Stakes.

Run over a mile and an eighth on turf, the Regret Stakes proved a perfect assignment for Good Mood as she settled down in sixth position and then zoomed through along the fence to win by a length and three-quarters for leading jockey Edgar Prado.

Stakes-placed in France as a juvenile, Good Mood is now trained by Patrick Biancone for the Flying Zee Stable and has won two races and placed four times from seven starts earning $US180,804.

“We just had to find a hole to come through and fortunately we did,” said Biancone. “She has a very big kick. She is a nice filly, and she is acclimatizing very well. We have given her plenty of time, and she is learning and could be a really good filly.”

Purchased for 60,000 euros from the 2005 Deauville August Yearling Sale after being earlier sold as a weanling for 62,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2004, Good Mood was bred by the Estate of the late Robert Sangster.

She is the first stakes-winner for her stakes-placed Caerleon dam Pillars of Society, a daughter of top class French racemare Grise Mine, winner of the Group One Prix Saint-Alary.

Good Mood is the 47th stakes-winner worldwide for Danehill Dancer who stands for 115,000 euros at Coolmore Ireland and has had an increase in fee to $110,000 for his coming season at Coolmore Australia.

He is currently the leading sire in Europe by individual winners and is just as consistent in Australia with over 90 individual winners this season including a dozen stakes horses, four of them Group winners.
