Impressive Juvenile Winner for Dehere
6th June 2007
Superbly bred Dehere filly Lisson Grove (2f Dehere - London Lights, by Bletchingly) opened her winning account at the metropolitan meeting run at Ballarat on Wednesday when she careered away in heavy conditions to win the open fillies juvenile event over 1200 metres. The David Hayes trained filly was having her second race start after failing to compete when she reared badly as the barriers opened at Cheltenham on May 19.
This time Lisson Grove had no such worries and strode away down the running to beat the smart filly Miss Meerkat by three and a half lengths.
Raced by Mr and Mrs Tim Hughes, Lisson Grove (pictured as a yearling) was purchased on the advice of astute bloodstock agent James Bester for $350,000 at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
She is a half-sister to Group One AJC Flight Stakes winner Only a Lady being from the Bletchingly mare London Lights, a daughter of Group One QTC Oaks winner Travel Light (NZ).
Her shuttle sire Dehere has been a regular visitor to Australia for many years and is the sire of 56 stakes-winners worldwide including Aussie Group One winners such as Defier, Belle du Jour and Bollinger.
He is scheduled to return this year to Coolmore Australia at a fee of $55,000.
