Galileo Fillies Impress at MM National

5th June 2007

Stakes-winning Galileo filly Personify (3f Galileo - Procrastinate, by Jade Hunter) was one of the star attractions offered on the second day of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast on Tuesday fetching $1,025,000 to the bid of Badgers Bloodstock acting for Starcraft’s owner Paul Makin.

From the first Australian crop of champion racehorse Galileo, Personify was originally a $650,000 purchase from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for BBA Ireland and after winning the Listed QTC Queen Adelaide Stakes as a two year-old for the David Hayes stable has turned a great profit for her owners with her second trip to the sale ring.

A half-sister to champion South African racemare Laisserfaire and stakes-winning stallion prospect Foreplay, Personify is from the outstanding producer Procrastinate, whose yearling colt by Redoute’s Choice made $2million at Easter earlier this year.

Personify was one of three fillies by Galileo that were sold at the Gold Coast the others being Hummingbird for $520,000 and Jupiter Moon for $190,000.

Their popularity is to be expected given the potential of the Galileo  / Danehill cross which has so far produced last season’s unbeaten European champion two year old Teofilo and this season’s Australian stakes-winner Banc de Fortune.

Coolmore based Galileo has shuttled to Australia for the past five seasons but will remain in Ireland this year where he commands a fee of 150,000 euros.
