Saddex leads 1-2-3 for Coolmore sires in French G2

5th June 2007

At Chantilly on Sunday there was another big-race 1-2-3 for Coolmore stallions in the G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly.

The Sadler’s Wells colt Saddex (4c Sadler’s Wells-Remote Romance by Irish River) came home a length and a half in front of the Aga Khan’s home-bred Vison Celebre (4c Peintre Celebre-Visionnaire by Linamix) with Mountain High (5h Danehill-Hellenic by Darshaan), bred by Ballymacoll Stud, in third.

Saddex, who was bred by the Niarchos Family, is trained in Germany by Peter Rau and the trainer now has his sights set on Longchamp in the first week of October.

"We brought him to France to see how strong he was and he will now go to the G1 Deutschland-Preis in Dusseldorf next month," said Rau. "He will then run in the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden and if he is fine after that the ultimate aim is to bring him back to France for the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe."
