Encosta and Rock of Gibraltar Weanlings Popular
31st May 2007
Encosta de Lago was the leading sire by average with three or more sold at the 2007 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, his five babies averaging $162,000.His top sellers were a pair of fillies from Gazette and Lady Silver Hawk that made $200,000 each, purchased by Orange Thoroughbreds and New Zealand Bloodstock respectively.
Rock of Gibraltar also made a keen impression with four youngsters averaging $139,000, the highlight a colt offered by Baerami Thoroughbreds as Lot 334 from Bobsleigh that made $290,000 to the bid of Singapore based Pamela Jenkins.
The fourth highest priced weanling sold at this sale, he is closely related to this season’s brilliant juvenile Murtajill (2c Rock of Gibraltar – Skating, by At Talaq) as his dam Bobsleigh is a half-sister to Murtajill’s dam Skating.
Another good result for Rock of Gibraltar was his colt from Eishin Maysville that made $200,000 for Kitchwin Hills, secured by Magic Millions as agent.
Offered as Lot 103, he is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to the Rock of Gibraltar colt from L’On Vite that made $3million at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
