G1 Gold Cup next for Galileo filly Allegretto
30th May 2007
Cheveley Park Stud’s Allegretto (4f Galileo-Alleluia by Caerleon) battled on gamely to land the G2 Henry II Stakes at Sandown on Tuesday night and is set to step up in grade for the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot next month.
The Galileo filly, a 415,000gns yearling bred by Kirsten Rausing and Airlie Stud, finished third in last year’s G1 Yorkshire Oaks and ran out a gutsy three-quarter of a length winner at Sandown under Seb Sanders.
"We were slightly concerned about the ground but she proved she is as game as a pebble and stays every yard. She’s so tough," said Cheveley Park Stud’s managing director Chris Richardson
