Just A Dancer is Choisir's latest star

29th May 2007

The Barry Hills-trained Just A Dancer (2f Choisir-New Foundation by College Chapel) became the latest smart first-crop winner for Choisir when running away with a Leicester maiden on Tuesday by three lengths.

The Shefford Valley Stud-bred filly had finished second in a Bath maiden on her previous start and coasted home to an easy victory under Michael Hills.

The Racing Post’s analysis noted: "This opening juvenile fillies’ maiden has in the past more often than not thrown up a candidate for the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and there was a lot to like about the winning performance of the warm favourite JUST A DANCER. Having shaped with promise when second on firm ground at Bath last month - a race working out well - she had no trouble with this different surface and showed a good attitude to put the race to bed nearing the final furlong. Indeed, she looked better the further she went, will no doubt come on again for the experience, and ought to get another furlong before the season's end. A step up in class now looks in order for this daughter of Choisir."

The same day in Rome, Luna Nel Pozzo (2f Choisir-Luna D'Estate by Alzao), justified odds-on favouritism to win a seven-furlong maiden in some style on her debut. A €70,000 yearling, Luna Nel Pozzo was bred by Azienda Agricola Razza Del Sole.
