Sadler's Wells bids to land an amazing sixth Oaks
28th May 2007
Speaking of legends, Sadler's Wells bids to land an amazing sixth G1 Oaks on Friday. Measured Tempo (3f Sadler's Wells-Allez Les Trois by Riverman), home-bred by Darley, heads to Epsom on the back of two unbeaten runs, most recently in a Listed event at Newbury.
The progressive All My Loving (3f Sadler's Wells-Jude by Darshaan) bids to go one better than her full-sisters Quarter Moon and Yesterday, who both finished second in the Oaks, while an outsider who could run well at a big price could be the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Dance Of Light (3f Sadler's Wells-Flamelight by Seattle Slew), a $340,000 yearling bred by Stonewall Farm and owned by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook.
Danehill's representatives look set to include Simply Perfect (3f Danehill-Hotelgenie Dot Com), bred in partnership by Derek and Jean Clee's Trehedyn Stud and stepping up in trip after winning the G1 Fillies' Mile last year and coming third in this season's G1 1000 Guineas. Peeping Fawn (3f Danehill-Maryinsky by Sadler's Wells), who finished third in Sunday's G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, is another possible as is Rock Of Gibraltar's sister Nell Gwyn (3f Danehill-Offshore Boom by Be My Guest).
Meanwhile former European Champion Sire Grand Lodge has a live contender in the Ed Dunlop-trained Dalvina (3f Grand Lodge-Foodbroker Fancy by Halling), who was bred by Philippa Cooper's Normandie Stud and won the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket by six lengths on her last start for trainer Ed Dunlop.
