Overdue Win for Super Genki

27th May 2007

Consistent two year-old Super Genki (2g Dehere – Camargue, by Air de France) picked the right race to break through in when he captured the Hong Kong International Sale Challenge at Sha Tin on Sunday over 1200 metres.

The Tony Cruz trained son of Dehere was making his fifth appearance after placing at all four of his previous runs, on this occasion brought with a well timed run to outpoint Lifeline Pals and win by a short head.

Bred and offered for sale by Swettenham Stud, Super Genki was secured by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $200,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

He is the fourth foal and third winner for the Group Three winner Camargue, a full sister to ‘tough as teak’ sprinter Bomber Bill, a winner of 23 races and $1.8 million including wins in the Group One MVRC Australia Stakes and SAJC Goodwood Handicap.

Dehere will shuttle to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $55,000.
