Further Success for Thee Auld Hussie

19th May 2007

Classy mare Thee Auld Hussie (5m Spinning World – Thee Old Dragon, by Desert Sun) added another Black Type win to her resume when taking out the Listed Fast ‘n’ Famous Marton 1600 at Awapuni in New Zealand in Saturday.

Thee Auld Hussie endured a tough run in transit and lugged top weight of 58 kg, so her effort to keep coming at the finish to secure a nose victory was outstanding.

Trained by Stephen Marsh, The Auld Hussie is raced by the Kintyre Racing Syndicate No.2 of whom there are 11 shareholders, including The Auld Hussie's breeder John Young.

The daughter of Spinning World has proven an outstanding performer for connections, winning five races from 30 starts and placing a further 14 times earning over $180,000 in prizemoney.

Thee Auld Hussie is the first foal of former very smart racemare Thee Old Dragon, winner of the Group Three WRC Desert Gold Stakes and Group One placed on two occasions.

Despite limited foal numbers due to fertility issues, Spinning World continues to produce his share of good horses already represented by an Australian Group One winner this season in Lyrical Bid, winner of the Group One VRC Myer Classic at Flemington last November.

Spinning World will stand at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $8,800.
